carbono se trata de un concepto nuevo y un modelo de negocio innovador que \u201cbusca un equilibrio en el mundo y de esta forma seguir produciendo alimentos para el mundo desde el pa\u00eds\u201d, seg\u00fan Kiantar Betancourt, presidente de la compa\u00f1\u00eda. La empresa tiene unas 200.000 hect\u00e1reas en el Chaco Paraguayo que utiliza para este efecto.Los \u00e1rboles que son deforestados tienen una cantidad de carbono que son emitidos al ambiente y es eso lo que tiene un precio, \u201ces darle a\u00fan m\u00e1s valor a los \u00e1rboles e incluso ponerles un precio. Esto reduce la deforestaci\u00f3n y la degradaci\u00f3n de los bosques y al contrario protege el verde del pa\u00eds\u201d, dijo el profesional del ambiente. Con esta modalidad se da una conservaci\u00f3n de los \u00e1rboles incluso superior al 30% como estipula la ley paraguaya, seg\u00fan sus estimaciones.Mercado genera gran volumen e inter\u00e9s internacionalMarco Cerezo, referente ambiental y en conservaci\u00f3n de la regi\u00f3n, otro de los consultores presentes en el Foro, dijo que \u201cya existe un mercado global interesado en ese sector, hay un sector de cr\u00e9ditos de carbono que mide hoy un volumen de m\u00e1s de USD 4 mil millones, hay bolsas de transacciones, agencias de mercadeo como la de Guatemala en la que se generaron m\u00e1s de 6 millones de cr\u00e9ditos que son ingresos para campesinos de ese pa\u00eds que antes no generaban absolutamente nada. Estimo que en el predio de Atenil el volumen de negocio a trav\u00e9s de este rubro puede llegar a ser de unos USD 300 millones. Esto permitir\u00e1 m\u00e1s empleo, m\u00e1s desarrollo y un gran apoyo a toda la comunidad de esa regi\u00f3n del pa\u00eds\u201d, sostuvo.Como referente ambiental destac\u00f3 la iniciativa de la empresa Atenil indicando que servir\u00e1 como un modelo para la regi\u00f3n y que marca las pautas de hacia d\u00f3nde debe ir el mercado.Betancourt asimismo agreg\u00f3 que tanto ganaderos, sojeros, agricultores y de diversos otros sectores del Paraguay se encuentran muy interesados en replicar este modelo y poder introducirse a este nuevo formato de negocio.\u201cTenemos una estimaci\u00f3n de 35 millones de toneladas de carbono en nuestra zona, basado en un trabajo cient\u00edfico de c\u00e1lculo de biomasa en el bosque que ser\u00e1 una gran tendencia en el futuro cercano.
